In June, we traveled to a Joseph Decuis Gourmet restaurant in Roanoke, Indiana to celebrate our anniversary. While dining, Sommelier Richelle Whitenack brought us a surprise champaign toast and told us that Wagyu beef was really a healthy choice. This rare Japanese beef has only been the U.S. since the 1970s, and those who know about it can’t get enough. And their farm supplies Wagyu beef to the restaurant. That moment started our quest to find out if this could be really true.

About the Recipe:  One of the favorite fruits in Ed Mitchell’s neighborhood was fresh farm-grown watermelon. Sweet tea is a favorite Southern drink and natural thirst quencher. Just pour into ice-filled glasses and garnish with several mint leaves. Great as a mixer for those favorite drinks too.

Don’t you just love surprises, and this cookie has a sweet one.

About the Recipe:  There is nothing like a sweet surprise. These crispy vanilla cookies have a sweet apricot or fig-orange filling, hidden under a rich, dark chocolate glaze. The shiny chocolate stays soft, blending into the filling. It is the crispy cousin to a delicious British Jaffa cookie.

Wagyu Beef at Four Star Joseph Decuis Restaurant

Joseph Decuis Gourmet Restaurant is located in a converted bank building on Main Street in Roanoke, Indiana. They are the only restaurant in the US that has a farm to raise their own Wagyu beef for their restaurants.
