Fairmont Hotel Chicago – Site of Cookie Exchange on Dec. 1, 2016

Did you ever wonder where you might find some fantastic cookie recipes plus be able to sample them? That was what we wanted to do, but where could we go. Then we heard about a cookie exchange where you could taste cookies made by a top chef at an elegant hotel. That sounded so fantastic!

It wasn’t long before we found ourselves at The Fairmont Hotel in Chicago’s Millennium Park at their cookie exchange event called Cookie Wonderland. It was perfect since it provided us with an opportunity to taste 12 of their best holiday cookies. We were greeted by several large rooms filled with twinkling giant snowflakes dancing above us with glittering stars everywhere. Tables filled with holiday goodies welcomed us with overflowing cookies piled on festive large platters.

Three Tables with the following cookies available for the guests to select for their own cookie boxes: 1) Double dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies, 2) White Chocolate Candy Cane Meringues, 3) Eggnog Sugar Cookies, 4)Rocky Road Cookie Balls, 5) Columbus Tap Oatmeal Stout Fudge Cookies, 6) Momma’s Gingersnap Cookies, 7) Cranberry Maple Orange Shortbread Cookies, 8) Butterscotch Apricot Rugelach, 9) Snickerdoodle Cookies, 10) Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars, 11) Chocolate Peppermint Pinwheels, and 12) Oaxacan Mexican Chocolate Cookies.


Three Boxes Colorfully Wrapped with a Dozen Cookies in each Box

Colorfully wrapped boxes with guest selected cookies that are packed by the Fairmont Hotel staff for each individual to take home as their own personal treasure.


Executive Sous Chef – Atticus Garant of Fairmont Chicago – Responsible for Developing Cookie Recipes and Making the Event the Success it was.

The person responsible for selecting the recipes, procuring the ingredients,  and overseeing the staff of 5 people who baked for 12 days and prepared the 11,000 cookies for the Fairmont Hotel Cookie Exchange event on December 1st, 2016

Cranberry Maple Orange Shortbread Cookies



About the Recipe:   Buttery shortbread cookies are always delicious, but adding a touch of cranberries and orange makes them heavenly.  Shape them in rounds or style them up with a fancy shape.  They are perfect for that holiday cookie platter.

About the Recipe: What a wonderful idea! Adding an eggnog flavor to the sugar cookies gives the cookies a special holiday flair. Roll out the dough, cut them into your favorite shapes, and bake until lightly brown. When completely cool, add those colorful icings and decorations. Kids just love using those cookie cutters.
